Woohoo :) This works like a charm :) Now I need to figure out which ports I need to forward so I can access the NFS server from work!

it works very well, thanks very much! Samba is such a hassle to configure and then i've never had it working totally right. This is the closest i've ever had to plug and play networking, grand.

I use nfs-user-server. It is theoretically slower, but has more features and is easier to debug if there are problems.

Thank you so much for this quick tutorial!

I have a Thinkpad T41 laptop (running Ubuntu) that I use for development work both at home and from the office. When I come home, I like to access my Eclipse workspace projects from my desktop PC (also Ubuntu).

By setting up an NFS server on my laptop I can simply mount the NFS share from my desktop and remotely access my Eclipse workspace and project files.

Thanks again!
